Racial Inequality in Twin Cities Schools: Implementing Cruz-Guzman v. State

December 4, 2026, 1:00 to 5:45 pm

In December 2023, the Minnesota Supreme Court in the case Cruz-Guzman v. State issued what many legal experts consider the most important state court ruling ever on school segregation. Cruz-Guzman held, for the first time, that the “education clause” of a state constitution, which creates a legislative duty to provide an adequate education, could, standing alone, address school segregation and other issues of racial inequality.

National Symposium & Convening on Deaths in Immigration Detention

February 18, 2027, 9:00 am - February 19, 2027, 5:00 pm, online

The record expansion of immigration detention and deterioration of conditions in custody have resulted in a significant increase in deaths among persons held in federal immigration custody. Since January 2025, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention system has expanded to over 200 facilities holding more than 75,000 people daily. Over 50 deaths have occurred in ICE custody during this period—the highest annual total in agency history.

2027 Minnesota Law Conference on Experiential Education

Join law school deans, associate and assistant deans, experiential education (ExEd) leaders, and clinicians in Minneapolis for the second Minnesota Law Conference on Experiential Education (MLCEE) as we come together to build community, share best practices, and collaborate on ways to enhance the student experience.

Focusing on the role of ExEd in a modern legal education and targets topics, this event expands on the inaugural 2025 meeting and centers on three forms of legal ExEd: clinics, field placements, and simulation courses.
