Interviewing Programs
The University of Minnesota Law School Career Center hosts both national on-campus and off-campus interviewing programs, and participates in diversity, public interest, and specialized recruiting programs across the country to give students increased access to a broad range of employers.
On-Campus Interviews
Summer/Fall On-Campus Interviewing (OCI)
The University of Minnesota Law School's On-Campus Interview program is the largest recruiting event of the year. The majority of employers who participate in our OCI program operate in the private sector and are primarily interviewing rising 2Ls for summer positions, but we welcome any legal employer to participate. These interviews typically happen during the summer. The University of Minnesota Law School will continue offering interviewing dates into the fall semester for any other organization including smaller law firms, courts, corporations, or government agencies in support of any hiring needs.
The University of Minnesota Law School's 2025 On-Campus Interview program will begin June 24.
- Session 1: June 24 - June 26: Virtual screening interviews only. Minnesota Law can host using FloRecruit or you can host on the platform of your choice. Registration for employers is May 15.
- Session 2: August 26 - August 28: This session is intended for smaller firms and government organizations who hire on the historically traditional OCI timeline. These three days can be used for virtual or in-person interviews. Registration deadline is August 1.
- Session 3: June 30 - Oct 31: The Minnesota Law Career Center can schedule individual flexible timing for OCI schedules for any employer who would like to interview during a time other than during session 1 or 2. Please either reach out to Rob or T. Corbin to set up a schedule or request a date through Symplicity.
Resume Collects: After submitting a request for a resume collection, you'll hear from the Career Center about when you'd like to receive a packet of application materials. Resume collect deadlines can be set as early as May 21.
All registrations can be completed through Symplicity. All components of the 2025 on-campus interview program will be of no cost to all employers.
Spring pre-OCI networking event will be held in person on April 14, 2025, from 4 pm - 6 pm hosted at the Courtyard Marriott next to the Law School. You do not have to be signed up for our OCI program to attend but the event is intended for employers who plan to participate in our OCI program or intend to recruit Minnesota Law students for summer 2026 Summer Associates or Law Clerks. Registration can be completed online. Space is limited and the deadline to register is April 7.
Please contact Rob Borchardt, Associate Director of Employer Relations, with any questions at [email protected] or 612-626-9467.
Off-Campus Interviews
Off-campus interview programs are offered annually in collaboration with six other law schools in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Houston. More information and registration at Midwest-California-Georgia Consortium Symplicity.
Resume Collections
If you are not able to conduct fall interviews on- or off-campus, we welcome you to participate through our resume collection process. Register via Symplicity (choose "submit schedule request" and "resume collect"). We will list you as a recruiting employer, notify our students about your job, collect resumes from interested students, and send those resumes directly to your hiring contact.
Diversity Fairs
Several programs bring our students together with employers who have a specific interest in hiring students from a diverse background. The programs are held in a variety of locations around the country throughout the year.
Public Interest Fairs
Students interested in pursuing public interest careers are invited to interview across the country with a variety of employers at any of the special interview programs for public interest employers.
