Modernization of PAT - Summer 2024

The University is modernizing the Performance Appraisal Tool (PAT) platform and anticipates it will be live in late July 2024. This modernization is necessary due to the age of the current system. The refresh creates a more intuitive experience and resolves current pain points. Please note that workflow/process and best practices around goal setting, ongoing check-ins, and performance evaluations are not affected by the upgrade.

What to do:

Prior evaluations and goals will not migrate to the new platform as the data structure is not compatible. During July and August, you have the option to download evaluations. This is not required as prior completed evaluations will automatically be moved to University personnel files, where they can be accessed as needed. No action is needed to retain prior evaluations. Please note, that while the old platform is still accessible, you will want to manually transfer goals from the outdated platform to the modernized version if applicable.

Performance Review Information

The Performance Appraisal Tool (PAT) is a secure online employee appraisal. PAT is designed to engage supervisors and staff in a meaningful two-way performance appraisal process.

This system is used year-round for goal setting, goal meeting, and updating and tracking of employee goals for the year. The system is available all year for those goals except during the annual review period. The annual review process is done from February through May for the previously worked year.

Annual appraisals are required under University policy. The PAT is approved for use with civil service, bargaining unit, and P&A staff.

Law School Staff Performance Evaluations are due on May 15, 2024

We have rolled out a new Simplified Performance Management process. This process is based on simple tools and grounded in the science of what drives performance consistently applied across the Law School and University. As a reminder, the Law School performance period runs from April 1, 2023 - March 31, 2024, for the 2023 review period.
