Student Mental Health & Wellness
Embedded Wellness Counseling Services
The University of Minnesota Law School is committed to supporting students’ mental health and wellbeing. The American Bar Association released a Report from the National Task Force which revealed lawyers and law students experience high rates of chronic stress and substance abuse.
The embedded wellness counselor (psychotherapist) is available to law students who are needing support around one’s mental health and emotional wellbeing, whether it is navigating personal, family, academic, and/or interpersonal stress. Engaging in student counseling services allows students to learn more about themselves, develop the skills and understanding to improve relationships, increase resilience and motivation, regulate emotions, and enhance overall Emotional Intelligence (EI or EQ). Students will choose to connect with the embedded wellness counselor by engaging in psychotherapy, either via Zoom or in-person.
