This panel will discuss examples of current practices and innovations in the business and human rights field. Experts working at the intersection of global business and international human rights law and related standards will share how they see the field developing including new roles and professional trajectories for lawyers.

Participants for this session include:

Jenna Martin

Prof. Jena Martin, Professor of Law, West Virginia University College of Law. Prof. Martin's research is in the field of business and human rights, where she has written extensively on many issues, including the intersection of securities regulation with human rights impacts. Jena Martin will be joining the session via video.

Michael Congiu

Michael Congiu, Co-Chair of the Business and Human Rights Practice, Littler Mendelson. Michael had significant knowledge regarding business and human rights and international labor issues, and is a frequent speaker and author on these topics. He has spoken repeatedly as a voice for business on these issues at the United Nations, and he regularly counsels multinational employers on business and human rights issues, international labor standards, brand protection, and responding to global corporate campaigns.

Rebecca Rosefelt ‘19, Staff Attorney, Global Labor Justice. Prior to joining Global Labor Justice, Rebecca focused on garment worker rights with Justice in Fashion, and now sits on its Board of Directors. Rebecca's policy interests in worker rights stems from her time working in NYC’s garment industry.

Elena Macomber ‘24, Legal Research Intern, Business and Human Rights Resource Center. Elena is passionate about international human rights law and has legal research experience on an array of international human rights issues. 

Amanda Lyons

Amanda Lyons ‘09, Executive Director, Human Rights Center. Amanda is a specialist in international human rights law and advocacy, and her work looks at rights-based approaches to economic, environmental, and gender justice.
