Regalia orders for the Class of 2025 will be available for pick-up in Auerbach Commons from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30. If you cannot retrieve your items on April 30, they will be available afterwards through the Career Center.

Student Affairs will also be distributing graduates' name cards (the card handed to faculty presenters when you cross the stage) upon check-in. These should be brought with you to commencement on Saturday, May 17, 2025. 

Despite growing evidence of the devastating psychological and physical effects of solitary confinement, Minnesota continues to isolate individuals for months—sometimes nearly a year—at a time. At Oak Park Heights, the state’s only maximum-security prison, people are held in the Administrative Control Unit (ACU), where extreme isolation and surveillance define daily life. Robert Ives, who spent 600 days in ACU, recounted his experience of unrelenting solitude, describing the mental toll of being locked in a soundproof cell with no physical human contact.

On Friday, May 16, Dean William McGeveran invites the University of Minnesota Law School Class of 2025 and their guests to a graduation reception on the Plaza level of Mondale Hall from 3 to 5 p.m. (CT). 

Graduates will receive an email invitation in April to RSVP and register for their guests. Minnesota Law faculty and staff will also be invited. 

The University of Minnesota Law School invites the Class of 2025 and their guests to our 137th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 17, 2025. 

The ceremony begins promptly at 10 a.m. (central time) and lasts approximately 2 hours. 

Law schools have been enhancing their experiential education (ExEd) programs ever since the ABA implemented its six-credit ExEd requirement in 2014. The majority of law schools now have leaders specifically charged with overseeing their ExEd programs, including field placements and simulation courses, in addition to clinics. But while there are conferences that focus on components of ExEd, there has been no dedicated space for ExEd leaders to come together to build community, share best practices, and collaborate on ways to enhance the student experience.
