The Supreme Court's decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen transformed Second Amendment doctrine, replacing longstanding balancing tests with a history-and-tradition test. Its impact continues to reshape firearm regulation nationwide.

Megan Walsh, Director of Minnesota Law's Gun Violence Prevention Clinic will give a practical update on this evolving area of law. The program will explain the Bruen framework and the Supreme Court's two major Second Amendment decisions from this term: Wolford v. Lopez, addressing restrictions on licensed carry on private property open to the public, and United States v. Hemani, deciding the constitutionality of the federal prohibition on firearm possession by unlawful drug users.

Attorneys advising clients on firearms issues, state and municipal regulation, criminal defense, and civil litigation will gain a clear understanding of the framework for evaluating Second Amendment claims in the post-Bruen landscape.
