Sarah K. Peterson is the Principal Attorney at Peterson Immigration PLLC. Her employment-based practice focuses on physicians, allied health, Higher Education, start-ups, and high-tech sector. Sarah actively participates in the International Medical Graduate Taskforce (“IMGT”) and currently serves as Chair of the Government Liaison Committee since 2023. Sarah is active in the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”), previously serving as an Elected Director on the AILA Board of Governors from 2012 – 2022, Chair of AILA’s DOL liaison committee from 2017-21, as Vice Chair from 2016-17, as well as various other leadership roles. Sarah is listed in Band one of Chambers & Partners since 2025 (Band 2, 2023-2025), The Best Lawyers in America & Best Lawyer in Minnesota since 2020, being named “Lawyer of the Year” in 2026, Women in the Law Business Edition since 2021, as well as various other awards. Sarah was recognized as a 2026 Women in Business Honoree by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, she received the Roberta Freedman Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Medical Graduate Taskforce (IMGT) in 2023, and was AILA’s 2021 Susan B. Quarles AILA Service Excellence Awardee. She is an Author of the Immigration Law and Procedure in a Nutshell, 8th Edition.
