Bill Childs has had a circuitous path in the law, including time at two different national law firms in three different cities (he's currently a partner at Bowman and Brooke in Minneapolis); eight years as a full-time law professor; a federal district court clerkship; and five years as in-house litigation counsel for two different Fortune 500 companies.
Most of his litigation work is oriented around products liability cases, especially mass torts. In 2021, he created the “Recreation and Risk” course, borne from a lifelong love of roller coasters and someone saying “You should make that a class.” In 2024, Carolina Academic Press published his casebook by the same name.
Bill received his J.D. with high honors from the University of Texas School of Law and his B.A. from Macalester College. He also has hosted and produced a syndicated children’s music radio show, Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child, for a weirdly long time (over twenty years).
