Minnesota Law Welcomes Haley S. Anderson to the Faculty in Fall 2026

The University of Minnesota Law School is thrilled to announce Haley S. Anderson will join the faculty in fall 2026 as an associate professor of law. 

Anderson is currently an Academic Fellow and Lecturer in Law at Columbia Law School. She is a proceduralist and political theorist whose scholarship examines the concept of sovereignty. Her work spans civil procedure, international law, federal courts, and related fields, and she looks forward to teaching Minnesota Law students in these areas.

Minnesota Law Hosts Oral Argument Before the Minnesota Court of Appeals

In October, Minnesota Law hosted an argument before the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Judges Elizabeth Bentley, Diane Bratvold, and Jon Schmidt presided over the case. 2L and 3L students taking moot court and competing on moot court competition teams were in attendance.

Professor JaneAnne Murray Voted to Receive Promotion to Clinical Professor of Law

The University of Minnesota Law School faculty has recommended Professor JaneAnne Murray for promotion to clinical professor of law, pending approval by the University of Minnesota Board of Regents. Murray is the faculty director of the Clemency Project Clinic. She specializes in criminal law and government investigations, and teaches criminal procedure and sentencing advocacy. Her research interests include plea bargaining, prosecutorial discretion, and sentencing.

Tribute: Minnesota Law Mourns the Passing of Lori A. Dando ’81

Lori A. Dando ’81 passed away on November 12, at age 70. Dando grew up in the Twin Cities and graduated from Minnehaha Academy in 1972. She attended Bethel University and the University of Minnesota, earning a B.A. in sociology and English literature. She went on to the University of Minnesota Law School, graduating in 1981.

Tribute: Minnesota Law Mourns the Passing of Hon. Harlan Nelson ’59

The Honorable Harlan Nelson ’59, passed away on October 14 at age 93. Nelson grew up in Litchfield, Minnesota, and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1954. He served active duty in both the U.S. Army and Air Force and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1959.
