Corporate ESG and Sustainability – 6649

What is ESG & sustainability and why do corporations care? As catch-all labels for non-financial aspects of corporate performance, ESG & Sustainability have become lightning rods for critique of woke capitalism and corporate policies from climate change to DEI. After reviewing normative perspectives, this course will take an empirical approach to understanding corporate incentives, strategies and actions in applied practice – how companies are meeting diverse and dynamic compliance requirements and standardizing for efficiency while differentiating to compete for customers, investors and talent. With a multinational emphasis, we will explore what this looks like in practice today, become familiar with tools of the trade and build skills for impact.
