Laura E. Mate serves as a vice chair of the United States Sentencing Commission. Prior to her appointment to the Commission, she led the Sentencing Resource Counsel, a national project of the Federal Public and Community Defenders. She also previously worked with the Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Washington and Perkins Coie.
