Chris Ruska is an attorney at Nilan Johnson Lewis, where he divides his practice between labor and employment law and business litigation. His employment practice focuses on advising and litigating restrictive covenant and trade secret matters, as well as defending employers against individual and class employment claims, administrative charges, and union-related disputes. On the labor side, he counsels businesses on workforce management, compliance, and risk avoidance amid complex organizing environments.
In his business litigation practice, Chris concentrates on appellate advocacy, drawing on his experience drafting briefs, developing trial strategies, and presenting arguments in federal and state appellate courts. Before joining Nilan Johnson Lewis, he clerked for three judges on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, an experience that provides him with valuable insight into judicial reasoning and decision-making.
Outside of his legal work, Chris serves as a referee in professional and NCAA Division I soccer, applying the same focus and judgment that define his legal career.
