Areti Georgopoulos teaches the Employment Law Clinic, supervising student attorneys representing applicants for unemployment benefits before the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. A cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, she served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and Inequality and published an article on the detention of immigrant children.
Georgopoulos currently represents employees in a broad range of employment issues at Harmony Law Firm, PLLC, which she founded in 2012. In addition to unemployment insurance matters, she handles claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, and retaliation pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Minnesota Human Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and the Minnesota Whistleblower Act, among others. She advises employees on employment contracts, including severance, non-compete, and settlement agreements. She is a board member and Treasurer of the National Employment Lawyers Association—Minnesota Chapter, a board member of the Employee Lawyers Association of the Upper Midwest, and a Co-Chair of the Labor and Employment Section of the Hennepin County Bar Association.
