Immigration remained a major news topic over the summer. In July, Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a sweeping piece of federal legislation that introduced significant changes to immigration benefits and enforcement. Faculty and fellows from the Law School’s Binger Center for New Americans will provide an overview of the most impactful changes affecting immigrants and their communities. Key topics will include the expanded use of immigration detention, severe cuts to health and safety net services, the addition of new fees and penalties, and the erosion of due process and humanitarian protections.
