Personal Finance for Lawyers

This course introduces law students to the core personal financial decisions they will face early in their legal careers. Topics include budgeting and cash-flow management; student loan repayment strategies; employee benefits and health insurance; retirement savings vehicles (including employer-sponsored plans and IRAs); basic tax literacy; insurance planning; home ownership decisions; behavioral aspects of financial decision-making; and personal financial planning. The course emphasizes practical decision-making centered around the financial issues most commonly faced by early career lawyers.
