Patent Practicum: M.S. Program – 5492

THIS COURSE FOR MSPL STUDENTS ONLY.

This course prepares the student for the examination for registration to practice in patent cases before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This examination is commonly as the "patent bar examination" (the USPTO Patent Examination). The USPTO Patent Examination is administered by the Office of Enrollment and Discipline (OED) of the USPTO.

This course provides early preparation to help students learn key legal principles tested on the USPTO Patent Examination and exam-taking techniques and strategies. Through this course, students will work to master their skills through lectures, modeling, completion of example USPTO Patent Examination questions, written feedback, and self-reflection. Students will also strategically plan their approach to their USPTO Patent Examination preparation which may occur before or after graduation.
