Professional Responsibility in Practice

This course deepens your understanding of professional responsibility through weekly simulations that explore ethical challenges across a range of legal practice settings. The course will largely build on the content of LAW 6661 (Professional Responsibility - General), which is a co-requisite. This course will rely on the readings and class discussion in LAW 6661, but it will also require some additional reading and individual research. Weekly class sessions will immerse you in role-play simulation exercises grappling with ethical dilemmas encountered in practice. You will prepare for each simulation in advance, perform it in class, and then debrief the experience with your professor and classmates. Simulations will be accompanied by short assignments preparing for, or reflecting on, the week’s content. Together, these simulations and assignments will not only strengthen your grasp of the applicable rules and principles, but also help you develop the practical judgment and real-time issue-spotting skills essential to ethical legal practice.

Important note: Enrollment in 6671 occurs after open enrollment. Students will be invited to enroll on a space available basis, if they are concurrently enrolled in the corresponding section of LAW 6661.
