Join three of the Law School’s distinguished faculty experts and The Honorable Elizabeth G. Bentley, former visiting assistant professor, for a lively panel discussion previewing the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2024-25 term. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 in Mondale Hall, room 25 (Lockhart Hall).

The 2020 presidential election resulted in record voting turnout and an aftermath of legal battles around election law and voting rights. This CLE will discuss important election law legislation and trends since the 2020 election and looks at potential legal issues going into the 2024 election.

The James H. Binger Center for New Americans invites you to attend the 2024 Fall Immigration Forum on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the University of Minnesota Law School, Walter F. Mondale Hall in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This year’s forum will focus on immigrants’ right to thrive in the U.S. economy that has historically extracted immigrant labor with minimal worker protection.  Sessions will provide historical perspective and present innovative ideas for protecting and advancing the rights of noncitizens in the workplace.

In the 1970s Alexander Bickel exalted how little citizenship mattered when it came to constitutional rights.  In his view, the Constitutional only cared whether the person claiming constitutional protection was a person, and citizenship mattered little.

On October 24-25, 2024, the University of Minnesota Law School will be hosting a conference, “Women at Work,” inspired by the new book Fair Shake: Women & The Fight to Build a Just Economy, by Naomi Cahn, June Carbone and Nancy Levit. Conference sessions will feature one with the book’s authors, others directly relating to the book, and still

The University of Minnesota Law School will host a reception in honor of William McGeveran, dean and William S. Pattee Professor of Law, Minnesota Law's 12th dean, on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m.
