U.S. Supreme Court Preview Panel – 2023-24 Term
Join four of the Law School’s distinguished faculty experts for a lively panel discussion previewing the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2023-24 term. The event will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 in Mondale Hall, room 25 (Lockhart Hall).
The panelists are:

The panelists will offer their insights into some of the major cases on the 2023-24 docket. They will also discuss the Minnesota Supreme Court case, Growe, et al. v. Simon, Minnesota Secretary of State, et al., involving a petition invoking Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to challenge the placement of former President Trump on 2024 election ballots. The other cases the panelists will focus on include:
- Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo (Chevron deference)
- Vidal v. Elster (trademark law and First Amendment)
- U.S. v. Rahimi (Second Amendment)
- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau v. Community Financial Services Association of America, Limited (CFPB and Appropriations Clause)
- Campos-Chaves v. Garland (immigration law and motions to reopen removal proceedings)
- Wilkinson v. Garland (immigration law and judicial review of agency decisions)
- O’Connor-Ratcliff v. Garnier (First Amendment and social media)
- Lindke v. Freed (First Amendment and social media)
Prof. Bentley will kick off the program with a brief introduction, followed by the panel discussion. An audience Q&A will follow.
