Continuing Legal Education

Licensed attorneys in Minnesota are required to continue their education throughout their careers. The mandatory continuing legal education requirement was established by the Minnesota Supreme Court, which has the power to regulate the practice of law in Minnesota. General information, current rules and a list of all University of Minnesota Law School seminars approved for CLE credit are available from the Minnesota Board of Continuing Legal Education.

The Road to Qamishli: Chasing Law in a Time of Counter-Terrorism

Prof Ni Aolain, former UN Special Rapporteur on Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights (2017-2023) will share extracts from her forthcoming book drawing on her work in her UN mandate, with a particular focus on the conflict in Syria, and the counter-terrorism practices of state and non-state actors in North East Syria and their human rights consequences. The presentation will particularly draw on her visit to NE Syria in Summer 2023 and her observations and experiences in this conflict zone. 1 Standard CLE credit will be requested.
