Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin and Clement Nyaletoss Voulue were quoted in an article in The Bahrat Express News about the convictions of Venezuelan activists ahead of elections. The two UN experts raised concern after six activists were sentenced to 16 years in prison on conspiracy charges.The six Venezuelan activists marched peacefully to call for better salaries for teachers, their families and lawyers said.
“The harsh sentence serves as a warning to others who might engage in dissent,” the two special rapporteurs, Fionnuala Ni Aolain and Clement Nyaletsossi Voulue, wrote.
