Prof. Vaaler Comments on Minnesota Business Implications of New Government in Canada
Professor Paul Vaaler was interviewed for and quoted in Adam Belz's business column for the Star Tribune on how Minnesota business with Canada might be affected by last week's general election leading to a new Liberal Party government in Ottawa led by Justin Trudeau, the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Vaaler commented on the size and composition of trade between Canada and Minnesota, and speculated that, at least in the near term, there would be little change in trade with the possible exception of Minnesota healthcare companies that might benefit from Liberal Party commitments to increase spending on Canada's public healthcare system.
