Prof. Vaaler Presents Keynote Lecture at Annual Conference of European School of New Institutional Economics
Professor Paul Vaaler presented the keynote lecture at the annual meeting of the European School of New Institutional Economics (ESNIE) in Cargese, Corsica, France. His lecture asked how the march of political liberalization in many developing countries since the late 1980s had changed foreign lending and investment behavior by prominent international banks, multinational corporations, major credit rating agencies, and sovereign bondholders. The lecture drew on a decade of research Vaaler has published in business, finance, economics and policy journals on "political" business cycles and foreign investment in developing countries. This is ESNIE's 14th annual meeting, which draws academic and policy researchers in law, economics, sociology, political science and related social sciences studying the impact of institutions on individual and organizational behavior around the world.
