Overarching Key Strategies

Partner: Collaborate on holistic client representation and robust access to legal services and education to advance the cause of immigrants’ rights.
Advocate: Demand more just and inclusive immigration laws and system through transformative case work and policy work.
Leverage: Cultivate inter-departmental university relationships to make academic research a more accessible and practical resource and legal advocacy tool.
Educate: Foster sustainable skills and legal capacity among students to effectively confront injustices of the United States Immigration system.
Align & Amplify: Align as a team and engage with our alumni network and partners to build awareness and capacity around critical issues and trends related to immigration.

Centering Immigrants’ Experiences: We believe that lawyers are tools and resources that should be available to the immigrant community. Our legal work should center its usefulness to improve immigrants’ lives in a holistic way, not just address the law, legal system, or students with whom we collaborate in our work.
Collaborative: We recognize our place within the long history of immigration legal services, the deep and diverse knowledge pool within academia, and the broad web of community organizations working within and on behalf of immigrants in our region. We are committed to working collaboratively within these networks in order to support and elevate the work of our partners.
Impactful: Our casework and projects aim to improve the lives of individual clients and challenge systemic injustices in immigration law.
Anti-Racist: We acknowledge that the United States immigration system is inherently racist. We accept the challenge to work within a system that doesn’t effectively serve immigrants right now. We simultaneously strive to dismantle xenophobic structures and help to create a country that provides an equitable, just and dignifying experience for noncitizens.
Transformative: We aspire to deeply impact the lives of clients, students, faculty and staff. We work to seize this opportunity to improve lives through our engagement in legal advocacy and strive to foster sustained involvement in our collective work
