LL.M. Legal Writing and Legal Skills I – 6021

The fall semester course introduces LL.M. students to legal writing in the United States system and focuses on the fundamental components of legal analysis in the US system. By acting as attorneys in a fictitious law firm representing a client, students will learn how to draft and edit professional letters and office memoranda. Students will also engage in simulated oral exercises such as mock client meetings and professional presentations that will help them practice and improve their spoken English skills. The focus of the fall semester is predictive legal writing such as client advice letters. We will also spend some time discussing how to prepare for and take law school exams.
