Prof. JaneAnne Murray Quoted in ACLU-MN Press Release About MNDOC Ruling and Agreement in Wagner and Jones v. MNDOC
Professor JaneAnne Murray was quoted in an ACLU-Minnesota press release about the Minnesota Department of Corrections agreeing to not force ACLU-MN clients who are at high risk of COVID-19 and were granted a conditional medical release to return to prison unless they violate the terms of their release. Minnesota Law’s Clemency Clinic was part of the lawsuit seeking dismissal. One of the plaintiffs included a woman who gave birth and had spent nearly two years bonding with her baby while outside of incarceration. Professor Murray said, “Our clients thrived on release, building strong relationships with their families — in Ms. Wagner’s case, a deep bond with her now two-year-old daughter. We welcome the DOC’s humane decision to allow our clients to continue their law-abiding lives in their communities.”
