Prof. Murray Featured in New York Law Journal with Second Circuit Judge Reena Raggi
Professor JaneAnne Murray, founder of the Bloomsday Celebration of the Irish American Bar Association of New York, was featured in the New York Law Journal along with U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second District Judge Reena Raggi, Irish bar association Bloomsday organizer Janet Walsh, and Judge Carol Bagley Amon from the Eastern District. Murray introduced the seventh annual iteration of the event this past June 16 at the National Arts Club in New York City. The term “Bloomsday” is derived from Leopold Bloom, the main character of James Joyce’s masterwork, Ulysses, which chronicles Bloom's adventures over the course of one day in Dublin, Ireland - June 16, 1904. The event commemorates Joyce’s epic novel, Ulysses, and his contribution to First Amendment jurisprudence in the United States. The Hon. Reena Raggi, Second Circuit Judge was keynote speaker and the event was accompanied by a hip-hop presentation of the trials of Ulysses and its publishers, inspired by the musical Hamilton, and written and performed by JaneAnne Murray, Janet Walsh and Wally Marzano.
