Prof. Murray Organizes First Amendment Celebration in New York City
Professor JaneAnne Murray organized the sixth annual Bloomsday celebration of the Irish American Bar Association at the Glucksman Ireland House of NYU. The event honors James Joyce, literary Ireland, and the contribution of Joyce's masterwork Ulysses to First Amendment jurisprudence. This year's celebration included a keynote address from First Look Media general counsel Lynn Oberlander entitled "Free Speech in the Age of Terrorism, Again," and a re-enactment of the 1921 obscenity trial of Joyce's publishers, Margaret Anderson and Jane Heap, co-written by and co-starring Murray.
