Prof. Painter Quoted in NYT on Part-Time Government Officials
Professor Richard Painter was quoted in a New York Times article on conflicts of interest for a local official in Illinois who worked part time as a trustee for a municipal government and voted to award a government contract to one of the clients he also represented as a paid lobbyist. Painter was quoted in the article saying, "Permitting officials to hold outside jobs is a really bad idea. People think it's cheaper to have part-time officials, but it costs people a lot of money in other ways."
