Orfield in TwinCities.com Confirms Minnesota Minorities Among Those Struggling Most
Professor Myron Orfield, Executive Director, Institute on Race & Poverty, was interviewed for an article in TwinCities.com, titled "For Minnesota's minorities, the good life isn't as good." According to the the 2005-2007 American Community Survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, the majority of black Minnesotans are lagging behind blacks in the rest of the nation. Orfield further states that gaps between blacks and whites are not limited to income and poverty rates, but include factors such as higher incarceration and subprime lending rates.
