A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Judge Quinn moved to Minnesota in 1986 to attend the UofM Law School and never left. After graduating in 1989, he practiced briefly in the Twin Cities before moving to Duluth to join the Falsani Balmer law firm in 1992. There, he represented injured and disabled people in personal injury, workers' compensation, social security, and long-term disability claims until 2018, when he was appointed by Gov. Dayton to be a judge of the Minnesota Workers' Compensation Court of Appeals. He was re-appointed to a full term in 2019 by Gov. Walz. Before taking the bench, Judge Quinn also had an active pro bono practice, chaired the Volunteer Attorney Program, appeared on the local PBS show "Lawyers on the Line," coached the UMD mock trial team, taught community education, spoke at CLEs, and coached youth sports for 15 years. Since joining the court, he has continued speaking at CLEs, taught legal writing, and has been a school board member. Judge Quinn is married with four grown children. He and his wife Alisa spend their time enjoying the great theater, music, food, sports, and outdoors Minnesota has to offer.
