Dean Thomson is a shareholder in Fabyanske, Westra, Hart & Thomson. For 38 years, he has represented owners, contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals involved in public and private construction projects. Since 2000, he has been a Fellow in the American College of Construction Lawyers and is currently its Secretary.Â
Thomson has also served as the Chair of the MSBA Construction Law Section, and has been a Top 100 Super Lawyer in Minnesota for the past 18 years, Band 1 rated in Construction by Chambers since 2008, and five times selected as Lawyer of the Year in Construction by Best Lawyers.
Thomson has published and lectured extensively in construction law on topics such as insurance coverage, arbitration, mediation, procurement, indemnity, bond and lien law, and standard industry forms. Through the MSBA, he has assisted in drafting and lobbying for passage of many statutes affecting the industry. He is a member of the AAA Master Mediator panel and a member of the AAA Complex Construction Case Panel and Construction Mega Project Panel. As an advocate, mediator, and arbitrator, he has been involved in litigating, arbitrating, or resolving construction disputes in more than 35 states.
