Dean Thomson is a shareholder in Fabyanske, Westra, Hart & Thomson, P.A. For 40 years, he has represented owners, contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals involved in public and private construction projects. Since 2000, he has been a Fellow in the American College of Construction Lawyers and is currently its President.
Thomson has also served as the Chair of the MSBA Construction Law Section, and has been a Top 100 Super Lawyer in Minnesota for the past 20 years, a Band 1 rated in Construction by Chambers since 2008, and six times selected as Lawyer of the Year in Construction by Best Lawyers.
Thomson has published and lectured extensively on construction law topics such as insurance coverage, arbitration, mediation, procurement, indemnity, bond and lien law, and standard industry forms. Through the MSBA, he has assisted in drafting and lobbying for passage of many statutes affecting the industry. He is a member of the AAA Master Mediator panel and a member of the AAA Complex Construction Case Panel and Construction Mega Project Panel. As an advocate, mediator, and arbitrator, he has been involved in litigating, arbitrating, or resolving construction disputes in more than 35 states.
