Minnesota Law’s JD Class of 2027 – Continuing Our Tradition of Excellence
The University of Minnesota Law School is delighted to welcome the Class of 2027! Comprising a diverse and talented group of 195 individuals, the incoming class promises to continue the Law School's tradition of producing exceptional lawyers who make a difference in their communities.
Each year, the incoming class brings welcome new perspectives from every background. Our newest students hail from rural communities, suburbs, and major cities. The class of 2027 is no exception— more than a quarter of the incoming class (27%) identify as domestic students of color. A record 32% of our incoming 1Ls identify as LGBTQ+ and 55% of the class of 2027 identify as students of color, LGBTQ+, and/or first-generation college graduates, making this an extraordinary 1L class. With the addition of the class of 2027, Minnesota Law’s overall J.D. student body will be the most diverse in the Law School’s history.
The class of 2027 also has impressive record-setting academic credentials, with a median LSAT score of 169 and a median 3.87 undergraduate GPA — both the highest in Law School history. Eight percent of incoming 1Ls have already earned a graduate degree in another field.
“We are thrilled to welcome the incredible class of 2027 to our Minnesota Law community,” says William McGeveran, dean and William S. Pattee Professor of Law. “This class includes AmeriCorps and Peace Corps volunteers, published authors, fishermen, labor organizers, and Greek life presidents. They have spent time as student-athletes and interned for U.S. senators. They are influencers, debate coaches, parents, and musicians — all with diverse perspectives and stellar academic credentials. The class of 2027 joins a student body that will truly shape the future of the Law School and the profession for years to come.”
