Prof. Richard Painter on WBUR’s Here & Now Discussing Supreme Court Ruling on Trump’s Immunity
Professor Richard Painter appeared on WBUR’s Here & Now discussing the U.S. Supreme Court’s Ruling on Donald Trump’s immunity from prosecution. The Supreme Court ruled that former presidents have absolute immunity for their core constitutional powers and official acts. The court said former presidents do not have immunity for unofficial acts, sending the case back to a trial judge to figure out whether Trump’s acts were official or unofficial. Prof. Painter, a former White House ethics lawyer under former President George W. Bush, was interviewed about the ruling.
