Prof. Kristin Hickman Comments in Bloomberg Law on How Overturning of Chevron Affects IRS

Prof. Kristin Hickman was quoted in Bloomberg Law about how the overturning of Chevron doctrine might affect the authority of the Internal Revenue Service. Some believe the IRS’s most controversial regulations could now be more vulnerable to litigation as companies and individuals seek a fair shake from the agency. But Prof. Hickman said, “When it comes to IRS interpretations of statutes, most IRS interpretations are not all that controversial and don’t give rise to extensive litigation.” The regulations “are going to fare under the new regime more or less the same way they fared under the old regime.”
