Prof. Richard Painter Comments on Further Revelations of Justice Thomas Connections with Koch Network

Professor Richard Painter was quoted in The Guardian on Justice Clarence Thomas participating in donor events sponsored by the Koch network. The revelation, detailed in a ProPublica report, stated that Thomas attended events and was in a position to increase fundraising attendance for the group that has brought cases before the Supreme Court, including one in the upcoming term. Painter said that the justice's actions "violated: 1) financial disclosure laws, 2) laws prohibiting judges from participating in partisan fundraising (the Kochs have a super pac) and 3) recusal laws for judges. 28 U.S.C. 455. He simply does not understand or care about the law.”
