Prof. Painter Quoted in New York Daliy News on Hatch Act Investigation of U.S. Ambassador to South Africa

Professor Richard Painter was quoted in a New York Daily News article on the Office of Special Counsel finding that Ambassador Patrick Gaspard did not violate the Hatch Act in personal capacity Tweeting in support of Bill de Blasio's campaign for mayor of New York. Painter explained that "the State Department has additional rules above and beyond the Hatch Act. A situation with an ambassador is sensitive enough that that ought to be sent back to the State Department to make sure he's doing what he's supposed to be doing."
