Spring 2025
The course will begin by exploring the physical and legal forces that shape energy markets in oil, coal, natural gas, and electricity. It will then examine how energy projects are regulated by national and local regulators, and how companies address the risk of doing business with different countries around the world—including the challenge of complying with expanding regulation of corruption and carbon emissions. The course will conclude by exploring how companies structure agreements with host countries to develop energy resources and how they structure agreements with other companies to help in this task.
