Meet the Class: 1L Chad Peltier, Former U.S. Navy Research Psychologist

After earning his Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from Michigan State University, 1L Chad Peltier, was recruited by the U.S. Navy to oversee the Submarine Force’s psychological screening program. Peltier, who also holds a master's degree in public administration, is enrolled in the joint J.D./MBA program. He would like to one day use his combined skills to help create well-informed, evidence-based health care policy.

In the first of a two-part series, Prof. Alan Rozenshtein and Prof. Jeb Shugerman (Fordham University School of Law) write in Persuasion about how the testimony provided during the January 6th hearings changed their minds and strengthens the argument about the potential for prosecuting former president Donald Trump regarding his actions the during the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.  The pair argues that Trump's orders relating to allow rioters access to the Capitol "is not political speech of the sort protected by the First Amendment.

With a background in chemical engineering, Madison Rubin has first-hand experience with the challenges faced by women in STEM fields. She plans to use her combined science and law background to one day assist women innovators. Her interests are wide, from participating in hot air ballooning to recently taking up golf.

Robina Institute Executive Director, Kelly Lyn Mitchell, was interviewed by Minnesota Lawyer about Robina's recent report, “Examining Prison Releases and Response to COVID: Lessons Learned for Reducing the Effects of Mass Incarceration.” Through her interview, Mitchell discussed how states approached COVID prison releases and their refusal of admissions to curtail overcrowding.
