Professor Vicente Garces is the Associate Director for Research Services. He oversees the faculty and student research support services, the Law Library Reference department and the library website. Garces teaches in the library's legal research instruction program. His areas of specialized legal research interest include legal history, criminal law, criminal justice, and American Indian law.
Garces received a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an M.A. degree in library and information science from the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his J.D. degree at the University of San Francisco School of Law. He served as Senior Reference Librarian at the University of Oregon Law Library prior to joining the University of Minnesota Law School library faculty in 1996.
A member of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), Garces has served on several AALL committees. He is a current member and past president of the Minnesota Association of Law Libraries.
