Satang Dumbuya

Satang is a human rights defender focused on promoting gender equity and youth empowerment, and strives to promote a free and fair society fit for all. She is the Advocacy and Campaign Officer of Network Against Gender Based Violence (NGBV) and the founder and Creative Director of Artlight, an organization with specific focus on using arts to create awareness for issues affecting women and youth. Satang works with women and young people in combating Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and over the last 5 years, she has contributed in training over 4,000 young people on SGBV, life skills, arts, civic education and democracy across all regions in The Gambia. Satang has a B.A. in Law and a M.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy from University of The Gambia. 

At the Human Rights Center, Satang will conduct research on mapping best ways for efficient advocacy in The Gambia to ensure the mechanisms used are fit for all when advocating for respect for human rights and gender equality.
