Elizabeth Moran-Johnson ’81

Elizabeth (Betsy) Moran-Johnson served as General Counsel of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota BCBSMN, and as President of ClearStone Solutions, a subsidiary of BCBSMN providing Medicare Part D administrative services, until her retirement in 2019. During her tenure at BCBSMN, Moran-Johnson served as Executive Sponsor for the Sustainability Team and for Generations Blue (a forum for intergenerational mentoring and conversation). She is currently an adjunct professor of law at the University of Minnesota and serves on the board of directors for Children's Heartlink and for the ISD 197 Educational Foundation.

Prior to joining BCBSMN, Moran-Johnson held positions in corporate legal departments, private practice, government, and the courts. She served as Chief Compliance Officer for UnitedHealth Group and Deputy General Counsel for UnitedHealthcare. She was a shareholder at the law firm of Nilan Lewis Johnson, with a practice focused on health law.

Moran-Johnson was a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Roger Klaphake on the Minnesota Court of Appeals and worked with the Minnesota Department of Commerce Enforcement Division. Additionally, Moran-Johnson served on the Fourth Judicial District Ethics Committee as an ethics investigator and was an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas.
