Minnesota Law's Career Center recently launched an engaging new series, "Lawyering for Social Justice."
The series provides an opportunity to hear from human rights and social justice practitioners and to learn about their work and diverse career paths in the field.
Sharie Cassioppi, 2L, Awarded Human Rights Fellowship By World Without Genocide
World Without Genocide, a St. Paul-based human rights organization, has awarded a Benjamin B. Ferencz Fellowship in Human Rights to Sharie Cassioppi, 2L.
The fellowships provide financial support through World Without Genocide for work on core areas of human rights including research, policy development, and action at local, state, national, and international levels.

After Summer Position Cancelled, Rising 2L Heather Chang Gets Fellowship
Rising 2L Heather Chang was disappointed when Robins Kaplan, the firm where she planned to spend her 1L summer, announced that it was cancelling its summer program due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the help of the Minnesota Law Career Center’s Wendy Griak, Chang was quickly able to pivot, applying for and procuring a summer fellowship through the Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program.

3Ls Meghan Knapp and Jackie Fielding have been named 2020 Robina Post-Graduate Fellows.
Robina Post-Graduate Fellowships are supported by the Robina Foundation in recognition of the need for greater funding for recent graduates who want to pursue public interest work. These highly competitive fellowships provide funding for fellows to work full-time, for one year, in a legal or policy role at a nonprofit or government agency.

Rising 2L Molly Doda Selected for Rural Summer Legal Corps Fellowship
Rising 2L Molly Doda has been selected for the 2019 Rural Summer Legal Corps Fellowship.
Each summer, Equal Justice Works partners with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) to support 30 dedicated law students who want to serve rural and isolated communities across the United States and its territories. Student Fellows spend eight to ten weeks during the summer conducting outreach, exploring innovative ways to meet with clients living in remote areas, and building capacity at the organizations where they serve.
Career Center Awarded Grant to Help First-Gen Students Get Business Cards
The Law School Career Center’s Wendy Griak and Simona Suen were awarded one of this year's Campus Climate Micro-Grants to fund a new project they created that helps students who are first-gen, from families with little or no legal experience, and/or from economically disadvantaged backgrounds obtain professionally branded business cards.
Three Class of 2018 Graduates Receive Star of the North Fellowships
Fangzhou Chen, Luke Gagnon, and Eamonn Gallagher, all members of Minnesota Law’s class of 2018, have been named Star of the North Fellows by the state of Minnesota. Each will spend the next year in a salaried position at a state agency that aligns with their educational background and professional interests.
Chen will work in children and family services at the Department of Human Services. Gagnon’s position is in the Department of Human Services’ benefits-recovery section. Gallagher will work in freight and commercial vehicle operations at the Department of Transportation.
Abigail Hencheck (’19) Awarded Human Rights Fellowship
Second-year Law School student Abigail Hencheck (’19) has been selected to receive a 2017-18 Benjamin B. Ferencz Fellowship in Human Rights and Law. The fellowship, which is awarded by World Without Genocide, an organization based at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, is named in honor of international human rights advocate Benjamin B. Ferencz.
