Adjunct Prof. Clinton E. Cutler, Director of the Bankruptcy Clinic, Receives Minnesota Justice Foundation Award

Adjunct Professor Clinton E. Cutler, director of Minnesota Law's Bankruptcy Clinic, shareholder at Fredrikson & Byron, and member of the firm's bankruptcy group, was honored with the Minnesota Justice Foundation's Private Practice Lawyer Award at a ceremony earlier this month.  Cutler joined Fredrikson & Byron in 1984. He represents clients locally and nationwide in bankruptcy and other proceedings. He is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and has been recognized for his expertise by many peer-ranking organizations.

Cutler has led the Law School's Bankruptcy Clinic since 2005. Under his supervision, students in the clinic act as attorneys for low-income consumers on a pro bono basis in seeking relief under the Bankruptcy Code. Students also represent clients in litigation in bankruptcy proceedings, primarily seeking hardship discharge of student loan debt. Clint has volunteered time in representing pro bono individuals and businesses since he began practicing law, primarily with the Volunteer Lawyers Network (VLN). VLN estimated at one point that Cutler had counseled or represented about 1,000 individuals. He also has worked with other Fredrikson lawyers on several post-conviction death penalty cases. Cutler has received numerous pro bono recognitions over his career, including the Hennepin County Bar Association Distinguished Service Award, the Bankruptcy Section’s Radar Larson Public Service Award, and the Nancy C. Dreher Distinguished Service Award.
