Prof. Ní Aoláin Quoted by The Guardian on Australian Rescue Mission for Women and Children Trapped in Syrian Detention Camps
Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin was recently quoted by The Guardian on the Australian government's preparations for dozens of rescue missions to rescue Australian women and children trapped in Syrian detention camps. The Australian government aims to repatriate said women and children, many of which have experienced extreme hardship while in these camps. Professor Ní Aoláin stated that “Failure to repatriate is an abdication of Australia’s treaty obligations and their deeper moral obligations to protect Australia’s most vulnerable children.” Australia is not the only country that has been working to repatriate its citizens. Germany, France, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kosovo, and the United State have been going through similar processes over recent years.
