Together, We Support the Next Generation of Lawyer-Leaders: A Letter from Dean Garry W. Jenkins

Dear Alumni and Friends of Minnesota Law:

As we begin another academic year, a new class of incredible 1Ls (with the highest academic credentials on record!) will begin their studies at Minnesota Law, eager to join our community and ready to take advantage of our world-class legal education. By choosing the University of Minnesota Law School, these exceptionally bright students have started on a path that will shape their future and allow them to make a positive difference in their communities across the globe.

Here at Minnesota Law, we continue to prioritize enriching our curriculum, growing experiential learning opportunities, and providing resources to prepare students to lead in a rapidly changing legal landscape. This year we are excited to launch three new legal clinics—the Racial Justice Law Clinic, the Sports and Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) Clinic, and the Civil Rights Appellate Clinic—and add four outstanding full-time faculty members. Additionally, we welcome Minnesota Law’s first-ever Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to support our community. Simply put, these exciting developments would not be possible without the generosity of alumni and friends.

While we have much to celebrate as we begin the 2022-23 academic year, we still need your support to make progress on our goals and grow the impact of a Minnesota Law degree. With your participation, the entire Minnesota Law community can come together to support students and make an impact.

Your gift this fiscal year will help ensure that the Law School can:

  • Provide access to an affordable, top-notch education to talented and diverse students through scholarships and other financial aid;
  • Maximize our impact in the community through experiential learning that prepares our students to lead and serve while also providing access to legal representation for communities in need today;
  • Expand our efforts in diversity, equity and inclusion so that our community is truly inclusive of the broadest range of viewpoints, and that all members of our community feel respected, supported, and empowered.

Your impact as a donor is substantial. With your support, we continue to cement Minnesota Law’s legacy of providing a world-class legal education. Our work is important, and we need your involvement and partnership to accomplish our lofty goals. Your gift today will help provide a strong foundation for each student as we kick off another successful year!

Sincerely,

Garry W. Jenkins
