Human rights advocates worldwide are concerned about the position of Afghan women after the Taliban takeover. Speaking to Al Jazeera, Prof. Fionnuala Ní Aoláin said, "The gender apartheid practiced by the Taliban is not consistent with what is broadly consistent with international law. It is not consistent with women’s dignity."
