In his final speech, Rev. Dr. King observed: "I've been to the mountaintop... I've looked over and I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land." Fifty five years later, what progress have we made toward that "Promised Land" that MLK glimpsed, and how might our conceptions of what it will look when we get there changed?

Minnesota Law students, faculty, and staff are invited to our eighth annual MLK convocation on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 12:15 pm (CT).

This year's event features Nekima Levy Armstrong; a civil rights attorney, activist, national expert on racial justice, former law professor, and legal scholar.

Dean Garry W. Jenkins will open with remarks and an overview of our Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. annual series. Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Ra'Shya Ghee '13 will facilitate the conversation with Levy Armstrong, saving time for an audience Q&A towards the end.

Reception

A light lunch will be provided for those who RSVP by Friday, January 13.
