Fall 2022
This course provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable experience in public service and the legal profession while earning credits toward their law degree. Students earn 10 credits (H/P/LP/F) for work performed at a government or nonprofit organization outside of Minnesota. Externship hours and assignments must be completed between the semester’s first day of classes and the last study day.
Enrollment occurs through an application outside of the standard registration process. If you are interested in participating, please contact the instructor by email as early as possible with the following application materials: (1) resume; (2) unofficial transcript; and (3) geographic location and agency preferences, if known. Students will then be required to meet with the instructor to discuss academic, financial, and career considerations as well as next steps for participating in the course.
Students are also required to earn two additional credits by enrolling in Independent Research & Writing Paper - LAW 7606.
